Welcome to the 1st Annual Eureka Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk held November 27, 2014 along the Reservoir in Rexford.
I was inspired to run a 5k in 30 minutes by the Runner Girls Podcast. They have a challenge every year where listeners donate $5 to a cause and they five awards for the three people who come closest to hitting their estimated finish time. My estimated finish time is 29:58. Haha. I have been training to run this since September. I hope you’ll join me on Thanksgiving to run a Turkey Trot.
You don’t have to run 5k in 30 minutes, it’s just about hitting your goal time. For example, in April I ran a 5k with the goal of running it in under 42 minutes. I came in at 41:50. I was dead last, but I didn’t care because I beat my goal and it felt great. When you register for the charity challenge on the Runner Girls Website they will send you a number via email to wear on the day of the race.
You just have to print it. I printed mine at the UPS store today for 39 cents.
Registration for the Runner Girls Challenge is completely voluntary.
You can still enter the Tobacco Valley Turkey Trot for free just by showing up!
